Project Car shop

Project Car is designed as a 24/7 maker-space style shop for custom mechanical and fabrication work on project vehicles. The goal is straightforward: give builders the room, equipment, and support to turn plans into finished cars.

How the shop will be managed

Project Car is being built as a structured maker-space, not an unsupervised storage unit with a toolbox in the corner. Members work in individual bays so projects stay contained and respectful of shared floorspace. Access is designed around real builder schedules — including evenings and weekends — with clear expectations for safety, cleanliness, and tool care so the shop stays usable for everyone.

Day to day, the value is in more than square footage. Shared fabrication capability, hoists in the bays, and people you can bounce problems off of are part of the model. Mentorship and project planning support are meant to shorten the gap between “I want to build this” and “I know the next step.” Community standards and guided use of equipment help keep quality high without turning the place into a red-tape warehouse.

Why not just a rental bay or the home garage?

A home garage is convenient until the job needs a hoist, real fab capacity, or space you do not want filled with dust, noise, and half-finished assemblies for months. Many home setups also hit limits on power, ventilation, neighbor tolerance, and simply having the right tool when you need it.

A plain rented unit can solve storage, but it rarely solves capability. You still haul tools, hunt for specialty equipment, and work alone when a second set of experienced eyes would save a weekend. Project Car’s direction is to combine dedicated bay space with shared shop infrastructure and a community that understands project cars — so members spend more time building and less time improvising around missing equipment or isolation.
